Rigas Velestinlis was born on January 1, 1757, in the town of Velestino, where he would come to embody the intellectual currents of his era. A Greek philosopher whose life spanned the latter half of the eighteenth century, Velestinlis devoted himself to the pursuit of knowledge and philosophical inquiry during a transformative period in European thought.
