Biography

Ezra Pound was born on October 30, 1885, in Hailey, Idaho, during a formative period in American letters. He devoted his life to poetry and literary criticism, becoming a significant figure in twentieth-century literary culture. His work and influence extended across continents, reflecting the ambitions and complexities of modernist literature during his era.

Pound spent much of his later life in Venice, Italy, where he remained engaged with literary pursuits and reflection. On November 1, 1972, he passed away in Venice at the age of 87, following a gastrointestinal illness. His death marked the end of a long and eventful life devoted to the written word.
