Shimon Peres was born on August 2, 1923, in Višnieva, beginning a life that would span nearly a century and profoundly shape the modern Middle East. His career in Israeli politics spanned decades, during which he served in roles of tremendous responsibility and influence. Most notably, he served as Prime Minister of Israel and later as President, holding the presidency from 2007 to 2014. Throughout his long tenure in public service, Peres remained a central figure in Israeli political life and international diplomacy.

On September 28, 2016, Peres passed away at Sheba Medical Center following a cerebral hemorrhage. His death marked the end of an era for Israel, as he had been a witness to and participant in many of the nation’s defining moments. He was laid to rest at the Nation’s Great Leaders Graves in Jerusalem, Israel, a final honor reflecting his significant contributions to his country.
