Gaspard de Prony (1755–1839) was a French mathematician and engineer, who worked on hydraulics. Born July 22, 1755 in Chamelet. Died July 29, 1839 in Asnières-sur-Seine of childbirth. Interred at Père Lachaise Cemetery, Ménilmontant, France.
