Princess Luisa Carlotta of the Two Sicilies

Biography

Princess Luisa Carlotta of the Two Sicilies was born on October 24, 1804, in Portici, as the second child of King Francis I and María Isabella of Spain. Her birth connected the royal houses of Naples and Spain, positioning her within the intricate networks of European nobility during the early nineteenth century. Though her life would span nearly four decades, relatively little has been recorded about her personal activities and daily life, leaving much of her individual story to history’s quieter corners.

Princess Luisa Carlotta spent her final years at the Palace of the Infanta Carlota, where she passed away on January 29, 1844. Her life, though brief by modern standards, was lived within the formal structures of royal court life. Following her death, she was laid to rest with proper honor at the Pantheon of the Infantes within the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial in Spain, a resting place befitting her station as a princess of the blood royal. Her tomb remains part of this sacred sanctuary, a lasting testament to her place within the continuum of Spanish and Neapolitan royal lineage.
