Jay Bennett

Author. A mystery writer, he was a two-time recipient of The Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Juvenile Fiction with his novels “The Long Black Coat” (1974) and “The Dangling Witness” (1975). Born in New York City, he began his career as a scriptwriter in radio gradually moving to television, where he contributed to the program “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”. His first novel “Catacombs” was made into a 1964 motion picture adaptation titled “The Woman Who Wouldn’t Die”. Among his other notable works are “Deathman, Do Not Follow Me”, “The Dark Corridor” and “Skeleton Man”. (bio by: C.S.)
